Our Story

Karly and Conner’s story began in 2013 during their freshman year at Mississippi State University at the first date party of their college experience. The theme was “Holidate,” where everyone came dressed as their favorite holiday. Ironically, they were not each other’s dates that evening, a detail that now feels less like coincidence and more like divine timing.

Over the next several years, their paths continued to cross; they shared mutual friends, football weekends, and more than a few adventures, all the while remaining within each other’s orbit without imagining they would one day end up together. It was not until their senior year, during a trip to Punta Cana, that their friendship truly blossomed. Somewhere between the ocean, boat rides, and unforgettable memories with college friends, they discovered what would become the foundation of their relationship: a true and lasting friendship.

That friendship continued to grow when Conner spent a summer in Washington, D.C. Karly made the trip to visit, and together they explored everything the city had to offer; from discovering favorite neighborhood restaurants and spending time with friends to seeing the monuments and museums that make the nation’s capital so memorable. Washington quickly became one of their favorite places, a city they would return to each summer over the next several years, and one that would quietly become woven into their story.

During their “victory lap” semester at Mississippi State, their friendship only deepened. By 2017, Karly and Conner had become constants in one another’s lives: the first call in moments of celebration, the trusted confidant during challenges, and the friend who could always be counted on, no matter the season. Without either of them realizing it, God was using those ordinary moments to build something extraordinary, laying a foundation of trust, loyalty, and friendship that would one day become the cornerstone of their marriage.

After graduation, life took them in different directions. Conner headed to the University of Mississippi School of Law while Karly pursued her master’s degree at Georgetown University. Despite no longer living across the Cotton District from one another, their friendship only continued to grow. Karly even made the occasional pilgrimage into Rebel territory for an Ole Miss football game (despite the playful warnings, and perhaps a few objections, from her loyal Bulldog family). Despite both being Bulldogs, naturally, the two of them survived, as did their friendship. When Karly graduated from Georgetown, Conner was there with many of their closest friends to celebrate the accomplishment, another milestone they are grateful to have shared together.

Years later, another beach would change their trajectory. While celebrating Conner’s 30th birthday in Cabo San Lucas, their friendship became something more, and they officially started dating. From the very beginning, it just felt easy. They quickly realized they had found their favorite travel buddy, dinner date, beach partner, and the one person who could make even an ordinary Tuesday feel like a vacation.

Of course, every great love story encounters a few tests along the way. For Karly and Conner, one memorable challenge arrived during a trip to Italy, where the winding coastal roads of the Amalfi Coast, unexpected car sickness, and a notable lack of air conditioning tested Conner’s resolve. Yet, even amid the occasional travel mishap, one strategic hotel change, and a renewed appreciation for modern climate control, the trip only strengthened their relationship. It confirmed what they already suspected: that with faith, patience, grace, and a little humor, they could navigate just about anything together—though they now confirm that all hotel accommodations have functioning air conditioning.

A year and a half later, Cabo became part of their story once again. Returning to the very place where their relationship began, they found themselves standing on the same shoreline that had already become so meaningful to them. As the sun set over the Sea of Cortez, Conner got down on one knee and asked Karly to spend forever with him. Without hesitation (and thankfully without making him wait too long) she said yes.

As they reflect on the journey that brought them here, it is impossible not to see God’s faithfulness in every chapter. What began with a college date party &amp; different people by each of their sides, became a relationship built on faith, friendship, laughter, unwavering loyalty, and a shared love of family, friends, and any destination with a beach.

Their story is a reminder that some of God’s greatest blessings begin as friendships, grow through seasons of patience, and unfold in ways far greater than we could ever imagine. Karly and Conner are incredibly grateful for the family and friends who have loved, encouraged, and prayed for them throughout the years. They are overjoyed to celebrate this next chapter surrounded by the people who mean the most to them as they begin the life God has so faithfully prepared for them together.
